
Gyrotonic can be compare to moving in water. Movements have no clear starting and finishing point, and the emphasis is on undulating fluid movements in three dimensional planes of movement. gyrotonic's undulating and spiralling patterns will have a great effect on all of the bodies connective tissue like the body's facia. gyrotonic uses a weights and pulley system.
Both pilates and gyrotonic create strength and flexibility of the muscles of the body as well as creating a better body awareness, confidence and appearance.
The two systems use different means to reach similar ends. clients who lack movement might find it easier to start with a pilates based program. clients suffering from neck or shoulder problems might find it more comfortable to start with an gyrotonic programme.
