
The Stott Pilates method has been refined over the last two decades by co founders Moira and Lindsay Merrithew along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals.
Stott Pilates exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and (re-)balance the muscles around the joints. Prepatory exercises and modifications make the Stott Pilates method appropriate for many different populations from making it suitable for sport specific training as well as in a rehab setting and for everyday activities.
Stott Pilates follows five basic principles which are the foundation of the method from which all of the programming is developed. These are:
- Breathing
- Pelvic Placement
- Ribcage Placement
- Scapular Movement and Stabilization
- Head and Cervical Spine Placement
All our instructors at Ajna are fully certified in all disciplines of equipment and injuries and special populations, as well as being the only studio in Ireland where you will be taught by certified instructor trainers who since 2007 have trained more than 600 pilates instructors worldwide.
We are proud to say that Ajna is a fully equipped Stott Pilates studio, including 10 reformers, mats, splitpedal stability chairs, full assortiment of barrels, as well as a cadillac. We also have a wide variety of props to make your workouts varied and enjoyable.
